As a self professed typical Virgo (Virgos are often practical, logical and systematic in their approach to life), I swear by routines, the structure and the extra capacity that they bring to my mind. From lived experience I can whole heartedly attest to my most smooth flowing days being those that incorporated specific healthy habits into my routine, as they have made the world of difference. And they can also have helped to improve the quality of my day.

I am sharing 10 key habits along with their benefits from my routine, with a couple bonus habits that I’m still working on, however you may completely ‘smash’ for yourself immediately.

1. Drink water first thing: Hydrate by starting your day by drinking a glass of water as this will help to wake up your metabolism, boost your brain function and flush out nasty toxins.

2. Positive Affirmations: Consistently talking positively to yourself can build up self-confidence and raise inner strength to attend/deal with life’s challenges.

3. Healthy Eating: prioritising a balanced diet that is rich in vegetables, fruits, proteins and whole grains is a great input that supports your body’s function, increases your energy and boosts your mood.

6. Gratitude Journaling aka writing down what you are grateful for: Designate a specific time in each day to write the things that you are grateful for, as gratitude is proven to contribute to happiness, increase optimism and boost your self-esteem.

7. Quality Sleep: Experts reccommend that we should aim to get 7–9 hours of good quality sleep each and every night as proper sleep is pivatol for brain function, physical health and emotional well-being.

8. Digital Detox: Allocate blocks of time in your day to disconnect from all digital devices. You can ease stress, increase amounts of quality sleep, and vastly improve personal relationships when reducing screen time.

9. Physical Activity: Engage in at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily. Exercise releases endorphins, improves your mood, and increases energy levels.

10. Go outside daily: Being out in natural environments is scientifically proven to improve mental health, reduce stress and enhances mood.

Building these habits into your daily routine can help you enjoy a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life. It’s about making minor changes that add up to huge benefits overtime.

Bonus 1. Mindful Meditation: Dedicate a few minutes to meditation each morning. Mindful meditation reduces stress, improves concentration, and enhances overall emotional health.
